At Quality Driveways, we are proud to showcase our recent project: a large semi detached, block paved driveway. The existing driveway was outdated, cracked and in need of a complete overhaul. Our team took on the challenge and delivered a high-quality, durable and visually appealing block paved driveway.
Project Overview:
Located in Chorley, this project was completed using grey block paving with a contrasting charcoal border, it was envisioned to be a large driveway with space for multiple vehicles.
Phase 1: Preparation and Excavation
The first step was to remove the old, worn-out tarmac driveway. We used professional excavation equipment to clear away all the debris and then the foundation was prepared for a solid sub-base.
Phase 2: Sub-Base Installation
To guarantee long-lasting durability, we installed a high-quality MOT Type 1 sub-base, made of crushed stone, followed by a layer of sharp sand to create a stable foundation for the new block paving.
Phase 3: Block Paving Installation
We laid premium grey block paving in a herringbone pattern, which provides exceptional strength, preventing the blocks from shifting under heavy vehicle use in the future, as well as boosting the visual appeal. A charcoal border was added to define the edges and enhance the overall design.
Phase 4: Finishing Touches
Our finishing phase involved brushing kiln-dried sand into the joints to lock the blocks in place. Once that was completed, the driveway was compacted for a smooth and level surface, this also prevents weeds from growing through the joints, meaning the block paved driveway was a low maintenance solution.
